Born in Bridgeport, She was the daughter of the late Julius and Julia Csapo Farkas. Joyce grew up in the city's West End and was proud of her Hungarian heritage. She graduated from Bassick High School and worked at Sikorsky Aircraft before many years in the Fairfield Department Store's Children's department. Generous with time, Joyce enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Raising her five children (who were rumored to at times be a little rambunctious) was certainly among her greatest accomplishments and life joys. The family's Smith Street home was always open to her children's visiting friends and extended family, who were all made to feel welcome. Joyce never failed to pack up the wagon with kids in tow for our spring vacations in Deerfield Beach FL and summers in RI, especially Misquamicut beach. Funny and Vivacious, Joyce was a social butterfly and life of the party. Family and friends are invited to her graveside committal service in Mountain Grove Cemetery on Friday at 130 PM with the Reverend David Spollett officiating. The Kane family would like to acknowledge the caregivers and staff of the Jewish Home for their outstanding care of Joyce during her stay.
