I have only just seen this notice as I live in Australia! Bertie (as I knew her), was an amazing and wonderful person. She made me feel very welcome when I returned to a law firm in NY from Australia (a firm I'd worked for before Bertie's arrival in Texas!!) She will be missed!! She always spoke of her children to me and was always happy to chat (via email mainly) about their activities and accomplishments. Vale Bertie Baigent...xx

To Bertie's children--I was shocked and saddened to receive by return mail a holiday gift, with envelope marked "Deceased," that I had sent to your mother earlier this month. I was worried when I didn't hear anything from her after I had sent her a birthday greeting in April, and I see that my fears were unfortunately justified. I knew your mother well during her years at Syracuse. We were very close friends for several years in the early 70s, and I visited her a number of times when she returned to Sweet Briar as Dean of Students. She was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women I have ever known. We had gotten back in touch in the last decade and had communicated off and on since then. I was delighted and gratified to have reconnected with her. I am grieving her loss, as I had hoped to see her again. I know you will miss her forever. So will I. Best, Mona Gardner

Blair and Philip- I just heard the news about your mom’s passing. I worked with your mom at Bond Schoeneck and king .. loved her and learned so much from her .When I interviewed at Bond your mom was involved with the interview process, she shook my hand, and I thought i was going to go down to my knees. Very strong hand shake..never have I met a woman so confident. You are both so blessed to have her for a mom. She always talked about you both.wiith so much love and pride. . To Bertie's family, So sorry to see the passing of Bertie. I grew up with her in Lordship and lived on Washington Pkwy. I still have my Johnson Jr. High yearbook and looked at her picture in there. She was such a cutie then and turned out to be such a very pretty woman.
